This miniature gas station model features a beautiful white tiled exterior with the most colorful accents - yellow and blue above the service bay doors, red and yellow near the roofline, a green and yellow triangle border at the top of the main building, and bright blue and yellow doors. The gas pumps are blue and orange, with red beverage coolers, trash barrels and tire displays. The large picture window displays a sign that proclaims, "Under New Management - Open 24 Hours". The tall sign with the Gas-O-Mat logo is a separate piece that fits into a notch on the base.
It is close to HO scale, but I am not sure. The gas pump is 1" high.
From the box: "When the first Model T rolled off the assembly line, American life rolled off in a new direction. In fact, it changed the American way of life forever. Gas stations sprung up on the newly paved highways, not the sterile, impersonal self-service stations we have today. In those halcyon days (when the service attendant not only filled the tank, but washed your windshield, checked your oil and put air in your tires) each station was an architectural marvel. From the indigenous architecture of the Texaco stations with their striking trademark and the fabulous Art Deco designs of the "independents", to the magnificent details of our two Limited Editions, this important addition to our Roadside, U.S.A. Collection is a "must" for all serious nostalgia buffs. Artist/designer David Stravitz painstakingly re-creates these replicas capturing every bit of dazzling detail. We cordially invite you to take a ride with us. Don't worry, there's no fear of running out of gas; not when you're traveling along Roadside, U.S.A."
From the brochure: "GAS-O-MAT - Circa 1920's (Artist's Interpretation). Designed with dazzling Deco detail, the Gas-O-Mat was built to impress the motorist with its ultra-modern look. It was a 'palace' worthy of servicing his prized 'chariot'."
